09 ppatch planting

We finally tilled compost and fish fertilizer into our pea patch plot and planted the summer crops: cukes, zukes, tomatillos, and of course, tomatoes. And a few really cute basil starts. The late date was one of the hottest days of the year thus far, with high temps that fried two transplanted Northwesterners and a couple of fuzzy dogs, not to speak of tender seedlings. Ideally the starts would have gone in ground a couple weeks ago or more, but that’s not how it worked this year. Thankfully it’s a relatively forgiving time of year. A few weeks, and I’m optimistic we’ll be right back in the game.
